About Us

Welcome to The Fake Food Workshop & Store, where artistry, history, and craftsmanship converge to create extraordinary lifelike food replicas. Founded by award-winning sculptor and conservation expert Kerry Samantha Boyes, the workshop is nestled in the vibrant town of Kirkcudbright, Scotland.

Kerry leads a small creative team who help produce an array of diverse menus, rustic bakery produce and gleaming layers of a heritage jellies and deserts. Each creation tells a story of culinary aesthetics brought to life with meticulous detail and innovation.

Our vision

With over three decades of expertise, Kerry's commitment to blending tradition and modern techniques has earned The Fake Food Workshop a global reputation.

Prestigious collaborations with clients such as the National Trust, Historic Palaces, English Heritage and Warner Bros highlight our ability to craft bespoke creations for exhibitions, films, and displays. Every piece combines art, history, and storytelling.

Materials & methods

Our creations are made using carefully selected materials designed for authenticity and sustainability. For solid replicas such as breads and pastries, we rely on eco-conscious composites like Jesmonite, which is water-based and free of harmful solvents.

We were invited to be Ambassadors by Jesmonite - please see 'Find out more' link below.

For translucent creations like our heritage jellies, we use high-clarity resins chosen for their durability and refined finish. We prioritise resins with minimal odour and low VOC content to ensure a safer working environment while achieving the luminous quality that defines our pieces.

Our techniques, including moulding, casting, and meticulous hand-painting, ensure every piece achieves unmatched realism.

'Our experience with the Fake Food Workshop absolutely surpassed our expectations'

Kerry was more than happy to go out of her way to send us her beautifully made pastries, pies and baked goods for our Hobbity Pantry in New Zealand. We have all been completely delighted with the quality and authenticity of the products and would more than recommend her services.
